Big thumbs up to the following:
- Cosgrove Middle School students and faculty who participated in their annual “Jar Wars” competition. Congratulations to the 7th graders for winning the competition and to everyone who helped raise over $3,700.
- Rush-Henrietta Ninth Grade Academy for donating the proceeds from “McCare Night” and hosting the 2nd annual “Pi Day”. The students earned the right to “pie” the faculty by making a donation. The students raised $1,600.
- Florence and the late Jack Layton for hosting “An Afternoon at the Oscars” featuring the movie “Juno”, which raised $1,700. Over 150 guests attended “Jack’s final tribute”, quoted his wife, Florence; sadly Jack lost his courageous battle to cancer on March 20.
- Rochester’s local chapter of the American Platform Tennis Association for donating $2,000 of their left-over funds from their season.
- Billy Kidd from 92.5 FM WBEE and Daisy Dukes for hosting “Billy Kidd’s Babes and Bull riding Breast Cancer Event” and raising over $1,500 to support breast cancer research.
- Carl and Joyce Rapp for donating $500 from the proceeds of Joyce’s book “Yesterday in Lima” for breast cancer research.
- LunchByte Systems’ employees for their holiday donation of $950 for breast cancer research to honor Paul and Claudia Moriarty.
- Gates Chili High School Students Against Destructive Decisions club for hosting a flower sale and donating $50 to lung cancer research.
- Maureen Graham, melanoma cancer survivor, and independent consultant for Creative Memories for hosting a 12 hour scrapbooking event and raising $400.
- Janine Burge for donating $200 from raffling cakes at the Hilton Apple Festival.
- Ron Billitier and Paul Tessoni for organizing a golf tournament and raising $1,700.
- Erin Fennell for hosting the annual Michael Fennell Memorial Golf Tournament in memory of her husband and raising $6,530.
- Genesee Valley Conservation Club for hosting their annual Ed Gordon Memorial Trap Shoot and raising $600.
- Brockport Yacht Club for hosting a wine tasting and raising $1,300.
- Oak Hill Country Club's Tuesday Night Golf League for hosting their annual Pink Flamingo Golf Charity Event and donating $885.
- Martha Brown Middle School for hosting their own hat day and raising $178.
- Justin and Jennah McMillion for hosting a lemonade stand during the Holley annual village garage sale and raising $45 in memory of their father, Sam McMillion.
- Danielle Metz and Brianna Schunk for hosting a Powder Puff football game at Livonia High School raising $687 for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
- Alexander Central School chapter of the National Honor Society, and the faculty and staff of the Alexander School District for donating $100 by holding a dress down day and selling baked goods.
- The 6th grade students at Temple Sinai Religious School for donating their Tz'dakah money they have collected of $50.
- Our Mother of Sorrows school for donating $200 in honor of their mothers, aunts, grandmothers, family members and friends who have had breast cancer.
- Honeoye Falls-Lima Middle School students for hosting their own hat day and raising $130.
- The Bonadio Group employees for hosting a dress down day and raising $366.
