Integrated Clinical Application Workstation Workshop

The exhibiting company participating in the Integrated Clinical Application Workstation Workshop must demonstrate that its workstation consists of an integrated RIS and PACS and at least one additional clinical application such as speech recognition, advanced visualization, EHR, etc. It would be desirable, if the workstation includes a single log-on for all applications and other security features.

Each attendee participating in the workshop will be asked to judge the workstation with respect to the following features:

  • Intuitiveness of graphical user interface (GUI)
  • Functionality of worklist
  • Workflow
  • Hanging protocols
  • Number of clicks
  • Integration with reporting, communication and other applications
  • Number of modalities and specialty areas, e.g. mammography, orthopedics, etc.  the workstation can support.

The following companies will be participating in the Integrated Clinical Application Workstation Workshop:

BRIT Systems, Inc. will demonstrate its RIS/PACS single database solution at the DHIMS 2008 Integrated Clinical Application Workstation. The Roentgen RIS/Roentgen Files PACS includes the industry-leading DICOM routing module, the Roentgen Router, and multi-tiered synchronization tools for multiple sites using a central or regional server. Integration highlights of the BRIT Vision clinical diagnostic workstation include: single sign-on user interface; multi-modality diagnostic reading tools for mammography with integrated MRS reporting and tracking tools; OrthoView orthopedic planning and templating solution; NeoTool HL7 interface; bi-directional storage/archive capabilities with third-party storage service providers such as InSite One; and PowerScribe for Radiology reporting solution.

Carestream Health, Inc. will be demonstrating the CARESTREAM RIS PACS integrated platform at the Clinical Application Workstation Workshop at DHIMS 2008.  Highlighting the demonstration, will be KODAK CARESTREAM PACS, the diagnostic engine of the CARESTREAM platform.  CARESTREAM PACS provides the radiologist with a centralized access to a broad range of information and embedded native toolsets that support reading confidence and fast exam interpretation.   Radiologists do not need to leave their desktop or application to use the array of high visualization toolsets integrated within CARESTREAM PACS.  This eliminates disruption of workflow and enhances the radiologist’s reading productivity.  KODAK CARESTREAM PACS, integrated with CARESTREAM RIS, forms a Virtual Radiologist’s Desktop incorporating a Master Patient Information Jacket.   All patient and digital exam data—including prior exams, laboratory reports, and patient history—is readily available at the radiologist’s desktop RIS monitor.  When a patient is selected from the worklist, images are automatically displayed on the PACS diagnostic monitors.  A thin-client architecture and role based license scheme supports reading mobility by allowing radiologists to perform tasks at any licensed workstation within the healthcare network. New advanced Streaming Technology within CARESTREAM PACS provides fast remote reading over low bandwidth Wide Area Networks.   Streaming can transfer data such that it can be processed as a steady and continuous stream. The CARESTREAM PACS client uses streaming technology to process and display images in a viewer before the entire data set has arrived. Radiologists can review complex cases more efficiently with CARESTREAM’S powerful embedded diagnostic toolsets.  Native 3-D display simplifies viewing of vascular structures and other high-density tissue with maximum density projection (MIP), while improving viewing of specific anatomy with definition of 3-D tissue using CT or MR volumetric data. Integrated Siemens Medical Solutions’ FUSION7D™ software delivers enhanced visualization of cancerous tumors and lesions.  Also featured with CARESTREAM PACS is the enhanced ORTHOVIEW 4.0 orthopedic digital planning solution that includes support for specialized surgical templates for trauma cases.  Intelligent communications tools are also a foundation of CARESTREAM PACS and provide automatic generation of summary images and layout of summary reports.
