Needs Assessment

The Program Committee for DHIMS 2008 considered the opinions of nationally-recognized experts, feedback and evaluations from attendees and exhibitors at PACS 2007 as well as a review of the current literature to develop the framework for this five-day educational program. Based on this input, the Program Committee decided that a more radiology-centric program that looks at the needs of the other clinical departments and referring physicians would be most appropriate for the current evolution of DHIMS. To accomplish this recommendation, the didactic portion of the Conference will provide a day-long primer on PACS and then address how to solve the problems and issues restraining the benefits that can be realized from an enterprise-wide digital environment.

A variety of educational methodologies will be used to achieve the course objectives. The program will offer didactic lectures, interactive concurrent learning sessions including faculty-reviewed presentations by exhibitors on how their solutions will solve problems in the digital environment, "hands-on" sessions and demonstrations with operational systems similar to those used in the digital healthcare environment.
