Other Mental Health Disciplines

In addition to our program for doctoral level psychology students, the Deaf Wellness Center accepts BA, BS, MA, MS and MSW student interns from a variety of fields. We have provided internship, practicum, and independent study experiences for students pursuing baccaleureate and masters degrees in psychology, social work, art therapy, counseling, and other fields. These are part-time, volunteer (not paid) positions that are individually negotiated with the students and their home academic programs. Due to insurance and Medical Center regulations, volunteer/interns cannot be assigned a direct-service caseload. Volunteer/students are able to observe new patient intakes, participate in group psychotherapy, join DWC multidisciplinary clinical team meetings, assist DWC clinicians in a variety of patient care work, and participate in DWC research activites. For further information, contact DWC director, Robert Pollard.
