Susan Chapel, MS.Ed., joined the Deaf Wellness Center in September, 2005, as a counselor. She received her Master's degree in counseling from the SUNY College at Brockport in 2005, after completing internships at the Mt. Hope Family Center and the Deaf Wellness Center.

Prior to joining the DWC, Susan worked as a sign language interpreter for over twenty years, specializing in mental health and legal interpreting. She has taught workshops on both these specialty practice topics.

Susan has received extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She also brings skills in working with children to the DWC. Her master's thesis was on the topic of child-centered play therapy with deaf children. Dance and movement therapies are another area of interest.
