Lori A. DeWindt, M.A., joined the staff of the Deaf Wellness Center in November, 2007. A native of Rochester, NY, Ms. DeWindt earned her masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Gallaudet University in 1996. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Social Work from Gallaudet Univeristy. Ms. DeWindt's primary role at the DWC is provision of clinical services. She also participates in DWC research and teaching activities

Ms. DeWindt has extensive experience providing mental health services to deaf individuals, teaching, and managing human service programs. Prior to joining the DWC staff, she was coordinator of the Rochester After School Academy (RASA), a City of Rochester program funded through a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant and the New York State Department of Education. RASA that provides academic, artistic and cultural programs for deaf and hard of hearing students in grades 4-12 attending school in the Rochester and Monroe County area. There, Ms. DeWindt was a Coordinator and managed the program's budget. Before her RASA experience, Ms. DeWindt worked as a counselor and therapist in several programs serving deaf children and adults with mental illness. Ms. DeWindt also has considerable experience as an ASL teacher and an editor of a Deaf community newspaper.
