Robert Q Pollard Jr., Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and director of the Deaf Wellness Center (DWC). Dr. Pollard and the DWC have received numerous national awards for excellence in clinical service, research, and professional training. Awards have been conferred by American Psychological Association and several of its subdivisions, the American Psychiatric Association, the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers, Aegis, and the Healthcare Trustees of New York State.

Dr. Pollard writes and lectures widely on variety of mental health and health care topics affecting deaf consumers and professionals. He has been principal investigator on over 35 federal, foundation, regional, and local grants, totaling over $3.8M, and has published over 70 articles and book chapters. Dr. Pollard's scholarship interests include psychopathology, psychological testing, sign language interpreting, and health issues in the deaf population.. He is active in several national organizations, especially the APA, where he founded a Special Interest Section on Deafness, has served on several boards and committees, and was honored with an award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest..
