Content Outline
This workshop will discuss key components of an innovative, peer reviewed template for Educator Portfolios (EPs) that can be used by educators for career planning, mentoring, and promotion efforts. Ways to document educational quality and scholarship in the EP will be discussed. Dyads will: 1) Use the EP template to develop the teaching or curriculum development sections of an EP, and 2) Discuss how to evaluate educational performance using data from a sample EP. The whole group will discuss how to evaluate educational performance using data from a sample EP. The whole group will discuss opportunities and challenges to using formal EP evaluations of clinician educators in their academic setting.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the workshop, the participant will:
- Define educational scholarship and describe a variety of ways to enhance the academic quality of one's teaching and curriculum development activities.
- Document one's educational productivity in an well-structured educator portfolio.
- Evaluate practical strategies to promote one's academic growth and advancement as a clinical educator, and help others to do the same.
