Shirish Balachandra, M.D.

Shirish grew up in suburban Los Angeles and studied molecular biology and French literature at U.C. Berkeley. While there, he spent one year at the Université de Bordeaux. He spent two plus years in Cameroon as a Community Health Educator with the U.S. Peace Corps, and then returned to North America for medical school at McGill University in Montréal. Shirish currently lives and works in Saipan.

Roksolana was born in the Ukraine and moved to Rochester in the early 1990s where she finished high school. She went to college at SUNY New Paltz. She studied medicine in Poznan, Poland, where she had the chance to travel throughout Europe and experience cultures and cuisine, international travel and languages, and intercultural ethics. Roksolana was chief resident for one year and completed a geriatric fellowship in Rochester, NY.

Miia grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. She spent time at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and continued her education at the University of Toronto, where she graduated with a degree in Forensic Anthropology. She attended medical school at Ross University on the island of Dominica. Miia currently lives in Rochester, NY.
Edith Lubin, M.D.

Edith grew up in Northern New Jersey. After college she taught chemistry at the high school level. She chose to attend Drexel University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania after her teaching career. She currently lives in New Jersey.
Kristen Thornton, M.D.

Kristen was born and raised in New Hampshire. She graduated from Providence College with a major in biology and a minor in public and community service studies. After college she completed a year of service with the Redeemer Ministry Corps and then spent a year as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer based at the Feinstein Institute for Public Service in Rhode Island. She attended medical school at Dartmouth and continued to pursue her interest in palliative care as an Albert Schweitzer Fellow. She was chief resident for one year, completed a geriatric fellowship and joined the faculty here at the University of Rochester Family Medicine Residency.
