Highland Hospital Emergency Department

The Highland Hospital emergency department has 35,000 ED adult patient visits per year. One quarter to one third of the patients are referred by private physicians. Residents spend several weeks gaining experience evaluating undifferentiated patients of a variety of ages and levels of acuity. There is excellent support from ED physicians and the staff subspecialty attendings, as well as many opportunities to gain procedural experience. There is no overnight call.
