For your convenience, blocks of rooms have been reserved at our expense for the night prior to your interview. You will be staying at one of Rochester's finest accommodations, the Strathallan Hotel, located at 550 East Avenue in Rochester. You'll find reservation instructions and other important information below.

Your Information Packet

When you check in at the hotel, you'll be provided with a folder containing key information about your visit, including:

Information about our program
An Applicant Itinerary sheet
Details for your visit, including the arrangements for the evening dinner with the residents
Pick-up times for transportation from the hotel to the hospital for your interview day
A sample contract for University of Rochester residents

Please note: The schedule for your interview day will be provided at the Morning Welcome with the Program Director on the day of your interview.

Making Hotel Reservations

You must contact the Strathallan at least 14 calendar days prior to your interview date.
While we will pay for your accommodations, you are required to reserve a room in your name and guarantee the reservation with your credit card.
Make your reservations by:
- Phoning the reservations desk at 800-678-7284, or
- Emailing reservations@strathallan.com
When making reservations, be sure to provide the following information:
- Your name
- Program (University of Rochester Med-Peds Residency Program)
- Interview date
- Date of arrival and date of departure
If you choose to stay an extra day before or after the night prior to your interview, the hotel will honor our discounted fee ($84.00/night), but you will need to make that reservation and pay separately.
If you need to cancel your interview, you must contact Betty Aman and the hotel to cancel your reservation and avoid charges.

Shuttle Service

The Strathallan offers complimentary shuttle service:

To and from your interview at the University of Rochester
To and from the Greater Rochester International Airport, the Amtrak Station, and the Greyhound Bus Terminal. This service is available on an advance reservation basis only. To make shuttle reservations, please contact the hotel at 800-678-7284.

Air Travel

Money-saving suggestion: Flying into the Rochester Airport can be expensive depending on the airline and the dates you travel. As an option, you may want to consider flying into Buffalo, NY. The savings may be worth the cost of a renting a car and driving to Rochester. We are about 1 1/2 hours from the Buffalo airport. (Betty Aman sends an email to the group of applicants interviewing together about two weeks prior to the interview day. In the past, she's been to help some applicants meet at the Buffalo Airport and carpool to Rochester.)
