Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency
The Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of the University of Rochester Medical Center provides a four-year residency program accredited by the American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and is approved by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG).
Since our original accreditation in 1954, we have been providing excellent training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. The mission of our training program is guided by the motto of the University of Rochester: Meliora - ever better. We are dedicated to the education and training of obstetrician-gynecologists who will provide medicine of the highest order, expand knowledge, advance medical care through innovation, and who will, in turn, prepare the next generation of leaders in our specialty.
Our residency program provides meaningful clinical experience covering the breadth and depth of the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. There are currently 32 residents in the program, eight selected each year. The residents rotate between Strong Memorial Hospital (SMH) and Highland Hospital (HH). Approximately 5,265 deliveries and 5,000 operating room cases are performed each year at the two hospitals.
Throughout our site, you'll find additional information that will help you learn more about the University of Rochester and opportunities for OB/GYN residents.
