About the Program

The Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery offers two resident positions per year in an Integrated general surgery/plastic surgery program.

The educational goals for our residents include a comprehensive and balanced plastic surgical education based on these six "core competencies":

  1. Patient care
  2. Medical knowledge
  3. Practice-based learning and improvement
  4. Interpersonal skills and communication
  5. Professionalism
  6. Systems-based practice

We pride ourselves in a collegial city-wide plastic training program, exposing our residents to the full range of plastic surgery in the region, as well as other subspecialties such as dermatology, oculoplastic surgery, and ENT.

We have substantially increased the early exposure to plastic surgery and relevant subspecialty training in the first three years of residency, while adhering to the required rotations of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. These are hands-on operative experiences that build foundational training.

This last 3 years of the program provides comprehensive surgical and educational experiences while working in community- and university-based clinical settings. The faculty maintains the strongest commitment to its residents and their educational advancement.
