Welcome from Program Director

As the residency director of the University of Rochester General Preventive Medicine and Public Health program, we believe we offer residency training of the highest caliber. we hope you will find our website helpful in convincing you of that as well.  Thank you for your interest in our program.

We look for residents with passion and compassion. Passion for our specialty, passion for their future and for making a difference in the health of populations, be that through government service, academia, non-governmental organizations, industry, political advocacy, direct patient care or a combination of the above.  Our graduates have had successful careers in academia, occupational medicine, and governmental service at the local and state levels.

Nevertheless, our best spokespeople for our residency are our recent graduates. Please see what one of our recent graduates who had already completed a Family Medicine Residency had to say about our program and what she gained from her training.

The strengths of our program are many and include

  1. A rigorous Masters in Public Health Curriculum
  2. A close relationship with the Monroe County Public Health Department
  3. Flexibility in arranging practicum experiences including out of town experiences
  4. A program located in the region’s only academic tertiary care center, with its wealth of clinical opportunities
