Welcome from Program Director
Welcome to the web site for the Radiology Residency Program at the University of Rochester Medical Center. For Resident candidates, I trust the information provided will be useful in making the important decision regarding your future post-graduate education.
The primary mission of our Residency Program is to provide an excellent and supportive environment for the training of our future colleagues in Radiology. This is accomplished by the combination of an outstanding clinical and research faculty, state-of-the-art technology, and wide range of diseases and disorders encountered in our referral population. The University of Rochester Medical Center is a leading academic medical institution which is ranked in 21st in NIH funding. Our Residency benefits from its association with other top-ranked Departments such as Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Family Medicine.
The Department is seeking outstanding candidates interested in either academic or clinical careers. The Program will provide each Resident with a strong knowledge base in all areas of Radiology, as well guidance for acquiring skills necessary for efficient analysis, interpretation, and communication of results to referring physicians. Research during the Residency is also strongly encouraged and will be assisted by the Faculty Mentors.
Our Residency program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the National Residency Match Program (NRMP). We have 9 ACGME approved PGY-2 positions in Diagnostic Radiology. New Residents will begin on July 1, 2013. The deadline for receipt of applications and all required documentation is November 15, 2011. Dean's letters and/or updated transcripts will be the only documentation accepted after the deadline. Required documentation includes USMLE Step 1 scores, medical school transcripts, three letters of recommendation from clinical faculty, a personal statement and curriculum vitae. Applications and documentation will only be accepted through ERAS.
Interviews will be held from October 24, 2011 to January 9, 2012. Invitations for interviews will be via e-mail. If you have any questions about the Radiology Residency Program or application process, please send e-mail to rad_resident@urmc.rochester.edu.
Sincerely,
