Master’s Degree Commencement Ceremony

Parking is available for this event in the East End Parking Garage which is adjacent to the Eastman Theatre on East Main Street.
Only candidates who have returned their participation card to the Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs Office may participate in the ceremony. Master’s Degree candidates must arrive at the Kilbourn Hall GREEN ROOM no later that 11:30 am to allow sufficient time for robing and assembly of processional columns. Candidates will be lined up in alphabetical order according to their degree (MA, MPH and MS). At 12:00 noon, all candidates will be lined up in their proper columns, ready to begin the procession.
Guests may enter through the main entrance of Kilbourn Hall. Ushers will be available to direct guests to the Gallery Auditorium. Tickets are not required for this ceremony but please indicate the number of your guests (up to 4) attending this event on the reception response card. Please be sure to communicate with us if you will need to increase the number of suggested guests. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
Assistance to the Disabled
Accommodations, at the student's request, can be made for persons with disabilities by contacting the Offices for Graduate Education (585) 273-1620. Handicapped seating will be available in Kilbourn and must be reserved by April 30, 2013. Ushers will direct guests to the designated seating areas.
Academic attire is required for graduates participating in the Commencement Ceremony. Candidates can order and pick up their regalia at the Medical Center Bookstore.
Degree candidates are called to the stage to receive their diplomas in degree order (MA, MPH, and MS). To assist our faculty with the pronunciation of your name, please complete all sections of the Name Pronunciation/Information Card before returning it to the Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs Office.
A University of Rochester photographer will photograph all degree recipients as the University President presents their diploma. After the ceremony, you may take additional photos with your guests at the reception.
A reception for graduates and their guests will be held immediately following the Commencement Ceremony (1:30 to 2:30 pm) in the Cominsky Promenade.
