Stipend Awards

Stipend amounts and other scholarship awards, if applicable, have been outlined in your admissions correspondence from the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Education. If you have questions about your fellowship, please contact the Office for Graduate Education.

Your graduate coordinator will handle the paperwork to place you on the University's payroll system and to start your stipend payments. You will need to provide proof of identity and eligibility to be paid a stipend.  Please bring two forms of identification (e.g., driver's license, Social Security card, student ID, VISA, or passport) with you to the Orientation Program.

Your stipend payments will be directly deposited into a checking or savings account. To do this, you will need to bring a voided check with you and file it with a direct deposit form. Your graduate coordinator will be happy to assist you with this process.

Stipend Payments

Stipend payments are issued on a semi-monthly basis. You will access your direct deposit information online via the University's Human Resources Management System (HRMS).

Tuition

Tuition is charged on a per credit hour basis. After registration for courses, tuition charges will appear on a monthly billing statement. Fully-funded students will see the tuition charges on their billing statements as well as a credit applied through fellowship awards.

Tuition that is not paid at the end of a billing cycle will result in the assessment of late payment fees and a bursar's hold which restricts further registration activity from occurring until the outstanding balance is paid in full.

Financial Aid

While many graduate students receive financial assistance from the Graduate School, others rely on need-based financial assistance in lieu of or to augment school assistance. The School of Medicine and Dentistry Financial Aid Office provides information about the aid programs that our students use most frequently.

Eligibility for most financial aid resources is based on financial need and requires the submission of a financial statement to enable the Financial Aid Office to determine and certify eligibility. Several of the programs are federally funded and have regulatory requirements, which must be addressed through the application process. Application materials can be obtained directly from the Financial Aid Office.

Bursar's Statement

All students receive an electronic billing statement via URePAY for semester tuition, health insurance and other fees (when applicable) from the School of Medicine and Dentistry Bursar. Even if you are a fully funded student, you should not ignore your semester bill. Be sure to review the billing statement each month and if charges remain outstanding, bring the bill to your graduate coordinator’s attention or see the Bursar for immediate assistance.
