Students in the NBA track complete the biostatistics (BST 463 or BCS 510) and TA requirement (ANA 581/583) in the 2nd or 3rd year.

After the 2nd Year

The initial focus during this time is on developing the hypotheses and experimental approaches that will define the student's thesis research. Students complete a Preliminary Exam at the end of year 2 and a Qualifying Exam in year 3 before advancing to candidacy for the Ph.D. The remaining years are spent working full-time on the dissertation research.
