Ph.D. Programs — Second Year & Beyond
Second Year
Your Ph.D. degree program will be determined and you will select your thesis advisor from our dedicated faculty. Every effort is made to ensure that you will work with your first choice for an advisor.
Classroom study will be an advanced curriculum of required and elective study driven by your individual program and interests.
You will prepare for the Qualifying Examination, which is to be completed at the end of your second year or during the first semester of your third year.
Your second summer of research will be conducted under the auspices of your selected faculty advisor.
Third Year
Your thesis committee will be selected and you will begin thesis research. If you have not completed your Qualifying Examination, you will need to do so before the end of the first semester.
