Fellowship Programs

Four EM Fellowships are available at the University of Rochester:
Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Sports Medicine, International Medicine, and EMS.

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Pediatric EMCenter is an ACGME accredited fellowship which provides excellent clinical, research, and administrative training.  It has tracks for graduates of Emergency Medicine Residency Programs (2 year) and Pediatric Residency Programs (3 year).  The Master’s in Science Clinical Investigation is offered jointly with the fellowship.  The goals of the fellowship are to provide excellent patient care, gain thorough knowledge of PEM and related fields, conduct independent research studies, teach the principles and practices of PEM and competently administrate PEM programs
Ped EM

 

Sports Medicine is a one-year program with Dr. Ken Veenema, a double boarded EM/Sports Medicine attending in our department.

International Medicine is a two-year program for EM graduates which offers Int Medintensive international fieldwork and coursework, a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation or a Masters of Science in Business Administration/Medical Management, a clinical faculty position with generous compensation, research experience, and extensive domestic and international resources associated with the University of Rochester.


The EMS fellowship offers unparalleled opportunities in operational EMS, adult education, and prehospital research.  This is a two-year program designed to develop physicians who will actively participate in prehospital systems and become leaders at all levels of EMS.  Two program tracks are available in education or research to best suit the interests and aspirations of the fellow.  The fellowship program prepares the interested candidate to become a highly effective EMS Medical Director in a variety of system configurations while preparing for an academic career in EMS through advanced degree training and mentoring with nationally recognized prehospital researchers in the Division of Prehospital Medicine at the University of Rochester.
