Barbara Gawinski, PhD, completed her doctorate in Marriage Family Therapy at Texas Tech University and joined our faculty in 1987. As Associate Director of Behavioral Health Services, she administers, supervises, and provides behavioral health services to patients of the Family Medicine Center. She consults with residents and faculty on their patients' psychosocial issues. Barbara also provides supervision to residents during the Psychosocial Medicine Rotation. She has been developing training for mental health practitioners to successfully collaborate with various health practitioners. With her colleagues Dave Seaburn, Alan Lorenz, Bill Gunn and Larry Mauksch, she published Models of Collaboration: A Guide for Mental Health Professionals Working with Health Care Practitioners (1996). When not tending to the needs of the medical students, residents, and therapy interns, Barbara enjoys a busy family life with her husband and two children. |
