Overview

Stephen Lurie, MD, PhD, is a family physician who practiced for eight years in rural upstate New York before taking an editorial position with JAMA. He served there as Senior Editor, where his responsibilities included medical education. He also has a background in psychology with expertise in psychometrics (measurement in knowledge, attitudes, learning, competence, etc.).

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he also serves as Associate Director of the Office of Educational Evaluation and Research at the University of Rochester School of Medicine.
