Overview

Cleve Shields, PhD, joined the Family Medicine faculty in 1987. His research area is developing interventionsfor couples and families coping with cancer and physician-patient communication in cancer.

Dr. Shields has had grants from NIMH, NCI, and NIA. He is the Associate Director of the Wynne Center for Family Research in the Psychiatry Department. Cleve is a family therapist having received his PhD in family therapy from Purdue University in 1987. He has a clinical practice at the Family Medicine Center.

His favorite non-work activities are choral singing and golf.
