Adam M. Griffin, MD
WE'RE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE the return to URMC of Dr. Adam M. Griffin, a specialist in in vitro fertilization and fertility-enhancing surgical techniques who completed his residency at the University of Rochester in 2006. An award winning teacher and investigator, he joins URMC’s Division of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, where he is contributing to the expansion of the division’s fertility services.
Dr. Griffin, who served as a clinical instructor in reproductive endocrinology at Harvard Medical School, has completed a reproductive endocrinology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital in Boston. At URMC, he is spearheading the use of the remarkable da Vinci robotic system for minimally-invasive surgical treatments related to infertility. Dr. Griffin also is associate director of URMC’s Advanced Pelvic Surgery fellowship program, and oversees a fertility preservation and oocyte-freezing program that primarily assists cancer patients who face treatment choices that can affect fertility.
Dr. Griffin’s awards and honors include a 2008 Expanding the Boundaries research grant from Brigham and Women’s Hospital to investigate public opinion regarding the status of human embryos; a National Institutes of Health grant from the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in 2007 for research to characterize amniotic fluid-derived stem cells; and Brigham and Women’s Resident Teaching Award for 2007, presented to the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellow who makes the most significant contribution to resident education.
Current research interests of Dr. Griffin encompass a variety of areas covering embryonic stem cells, in vitro fertilization, fertility and genetics, as well as public opinion on those topics. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, an associate member of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the American Medical Association.
