Breast Feeding Hospital Policy Information
On March 31, 2011 a one-day conference, the "Finger Lakes Regional Hospital Breastfeeding Summit" was held in Rochester, New York. The conference, coordinated and hosted by the University of Rochester Department of Community and Preventive Medicine Breastfeeding Team, received sponsorship funding from the Community Partnership for Breastfeeding Support Grant (PHS Grant # R01-HD055191) and the Finger Lakes Regional Perinatal Center’s Perinatal Forum (funded by the New York State Department of Health).
The overall goal of the Summit was to improve regional breastfeeding outcomes through hospital initiatives. The Summit’s focus was to assist hospitals in the development and implementation of sound internal policies and procedures such as those laid out by the New York State Model Hospital Breastfeeding Policy.
The Summit’s Agenda and Presentations are available for you to review.
Each hospital in attendance received a Tool Kit of federal guidelines, sample policies, practical floor tools and other helpful research articles and materials regarding breastfeeding and breastfeeding policy.
Check back often as the latest policies, guidelines and other helpful materials are continuously being added.
