Cycling for Sally

Sally Hanan Oliver

Sally Hanan Oliver

Welcome to the Cycling For Sally fundraising webpage. My name is Carly LaVigne and I am embarking on an epic cycling trip across the USA in honor of my mother, Sally Hanan Oliver, who died of ALS at the age of 42 after five years of fighting this disease.

I am using this cycling trip as a platform to raise money for the ALS clinic at the University of Rochester Department of Neurology where I am also a neurology faculty member. All of the money raised will be utilized for patient care services such as physical therapy, respiratory therapy and other support programs. These services are vitally important to patients and families with ALS as there is no other effective treatment for this disease.

For those of you who knew and loved my mother, I hope you will consider contributing to this fund in her honor. For those of you who are my friends and colleagues, I hope you will help me reach my goal of raising as much money as possible to help people currently struggling with ALS.

I welcome you all to follow me on tumblr at cyclingforsally. In this blog, I take a look back at my mother's life before ALS, our lives during the years she had this disease, as well as documenting the process of preparing for and ultimately completing this cycling extravaganza.
