Judy's Fund: Hope for Cancer Survivors
Improving Life After Cancer
Judy's Fund: Hope for Cancer Survivors is a community-based initiative that supports the cancer survivorship program at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center. The goal of the program is to help cancer patients live longer, healthier lives. The program embraces the challenge of meeting the entire spectrum of needs of people who have been treated for this disease.
Patients who receive treatment at the Wilmot Cancer Center are provided with treatment summaries and care plans to help them work with their primary care physicians to make the best possible choices for their health.
Our program will assess and treat the chronic effects of cancer and its therapy, and try to prevent or reduce those effects. Depending on the specific treatments undertaken, these effects can include a wide variety of issues, such as cardiac problems, bone loss, fatigue, depression, anxiety, recurrence of cancer or second malignancies, and pain syndromes.
