Del Monte Neuromedicine Institute
Your generous support enables the Del Monte Neuromedicine Institute to take the lead in becoming a world recognized Neuromedicine program by emphasizing innovative research leading to therapeutic discovery in nervous system diseases, while seamlessly integrating translational research, clinical care and educational programs.
The world faces a growing epidemic of neurological conditions including Alzheimer’s and other degenerative diseases, stroke, traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, brain tumors, brain behavioral disorders and muscular dystrophies. These Neuromedicine disorders will be the world’s greatest health challenge of the 21st century and the economic and human costs are staggering.
Exciting developments within the translational brain sciences suggest that new treatments will soon be possible and the Ernest J. Del Monte Neuromedicine Institute is poised to become a legitimate national leader in this effort. Similar to the approach used by leading heart hospitals and cancer centers in the 20th century, the Del Monte Institute brings together internationally recognized brain scientists with outstanding Neuromedicine clinicians with the specific objective of providing a fast track from scientific discovery to implementation of new treatments and cures.
The generosity of Ernest J. Del Monte, in whose honor the institute has been named, and the creation of the Del Monte Neuromedicine Institute will leverage the substantial talent and resources already present within the Medical Center and University at large. The Institute has set the stage to galvanize the Neuromedicine community, and to promote synergies that will positively impact the needs of our patients.
