Highland Chief of Medicine in The New York Times
Highland Hospital Chief of Medicine Robert McCann, M.D. was featured in the July 9 issue of The New York Times for his work caring for the Sisters of St. Joseph at their Mother House in Pittsford.
Dr. McCann, a geriatrician, provides primary care for most of the aging nuns, who choose the Mother House rather than a hospital for their end-of-life care.
In the story and accompanying audio slide show, Dr. McCann provides his perspective on the importance of the doctor-patient relationship in making appropriate care decisions, which reduces stress and suffering for the patient.
