Highland Receives $1 Million to Enhance Clinical Service

Highland Hospital announced today it has received a $1 million commitment from Lynne Lovejoy to support the Highland Hospital, 5-year, $10 million Capital Campaign.
In recognition of her generous gift, Highland Family Medicine will be renamed the Frank W. and Lynne V. Lovejoy Family Medicine Center. The donation will be used to enhance clinical services at Highland Hospital and Highland Family Medicine.
Highland Family Medicine is one of the oldest residency programs in the United States and graduates 12 residents each year. Serving the Rochester community since 1967, Highland Family Medicine is dedicated to providing high quality, compassionate care to vulnerable and underserved populations and reducing health disparities.
Frank Lovejoy graduated from University of Rochester Medical School in 1940. Upon graduation he did a residency at the Medical Center in Internal Medicine. He returned to the University of Rochester Medical Center, and was named a clinical professor in 1951. In 1963, he went to work at Highland Hospital, began the cardiopulmonary lab, and was eventually named associate director of medical education. He retired in 1984 and passed away in 1997.
In memory of her husband, Mrs. Lynne Lovejoy, through a generous gift, established the Frank W. Lovejoy, M.D. Preceptorship in Family/Internal Medicine. This Preceptorship (training for medical students) honors Dr. Lovejoy and his life-long commitment to compassionate patient care and medical education.
Highland Family Medicine provides valuable health care services in the City of Rochester. This year, the practice projects over 60,000 patient visits will be conducted.
