Our Leaders
Ann Harrington, R.N., M.P.A., C.N.A.A., B.C.
Nursing was actually a second career choice for Ann Harrington. Originally intending to teach high school English or pursue a career in journalism, she obtained a BA in English with a minor in Business from SUNY Oswego.
Ann received her BSN from SUNY Brockport in 1977 when she began her career at HIghland on a Surgical Oncology unit. For the first 10 years she worked surgery, PACU and as a Nursing Supervisor. In l986 Ann became Department Manger of West 5 where she remained until being appointed Director of Nursing in 1994. She obtained her Masters degree in Public Administration from SUNY Brockport in 1989.
Ann has worked in all areas of nursing administration, from having been the lone Nursing Operations director to co-director. Her current role is director of Nursing, Performance Improvement and Practice Support, which includes being co-coordinator of Highland's Magnet Journey. Another of Ann's responsibilities is editing the monthly Nursing newsletter, which brings her back to her early aspirations of becoming a career journalist.
Ann is ANCC certified in Advanced Nursing Administration and is a long time member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE). She currently serves on the board and is President-Elect of the Finger Lakes ONE, the local affiliate.
