Insurance & Financial Information
Charges Not Covered by Insurance
Most insurance companies do not pay for private rooms, telephone or television. These services can be paid for at any point during your hospital stay. You may be aware of other items that your insurance does not cover or charges that you are required to pay for in part. In these cases, we will submit your insurance claim and bill you for the balance after the insurance payment is received. However, if you are scheduled for a procedure that is not covered at all, you will need to discuss payment directly with our Business Office at (585) 341-6536.
If you have any questions about payments, please contact our Patient Accounting Office at (585) 756-8548.
The Business Office and Cashier's Office are located on the main floor near the orange elevator and are open Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Major credit cards are accepted.
Other Billings
You may also receive bills from other doctors: radiologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, cardiologists, or emergency physicians who treat you while you are a hospital patient. These professional fees are billed separately from the hospital charges and will not be included on your hospital bill.
Charity Care Program
Highland Hospital's Charity Care Program helps patients who are uninsured or underinsured. The assistance applies to families at a qualifying income level based on the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. In addition, those who have exhausted their insurance benefits, exceeded financial eligibility criteria, face extraordinary medical costs, or who have other unique circumstances may be considered for Charity Care approval at the hospital's discretion. If you believe you may be eligible, please contact the Charity Care Officer at (585) 341-0023. More information about our Charity Care policy.
