Organ Donation
Considering our own death is never a pleasant thought, but when the unthinkable occurs, we can plan to offer a lifeline to someone in need of an organ transplant.
In the event of your death, your family will be asked if they would like to authorize organ donation. If you desire this action to be taken, you need to let your family know ahead of time so they may honor your wishes. In addition, residents of New York State need to take the following steps to become an organ donor:
- Sign up online in the New York State Organ and Tissue Donor Registry.
- Indicate your decision when you apply for or renew your New York State driver's license or non-driver ID.
