Labor & Birth Basics (with Tour)

Learn how to recognize the signs & symptoms of labor and warning signs to report to your health care provider. Receive tips on what to pack and familiarize yourself with how to expedite your hospital admission during a walking tour of the Family Maternity Center.

Fee: $20.00 (includes mom & coach)

** Free 30 minute walking tour will be offered on 2/8(FULL), 2/15, 3/7, 4/4, 5/2, 6/6 @ 5 pm. Late pregnancy and labor information will NOT be covered. Pre-registration is REQUIRED.

Comprehensive Childbirth Preparation Series (with Tour)

This series is for expectant moms and their coaches. Classes focus on:

  • The process of labor, birth, and postpartum

  • Breathing and relaxation techniques

  • Pain management

  • Your hospital stay

  • Special situations such as labor interventions, assisted deliveries, and cesarean births

  • A tour of the Family Maternity Center

Fee: $90.00 (includes mom and coach)

Attend one 2-hour class per week (same night each week) for 4 weeks: Weeknights, 6:30 - 8:30 pm
OR

Attend one 4-hour class per week for 2 weeks: Sunday, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm OR Saturday, 12:00 - 4:00 pm

Comprehensive Childbirth Preparation Express Class (with Tour)

This class includes all topics in the series classes as well as newborn care basics in a one day format for mom and her coach. A tour of the Family Maternity Center is included.

*Early registration is highly recommended.

Attend one 8-hour class, Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Breathing and Relaxation Workshop

Demonstrations and practice of breathing patterns, focal points, muscle relaxation, and guided imagery for self-hypnosis. This class empowers participants to manage pain through simulated labor contractions. This class does not cover other options for pain management or postpartum information. A tour of the Family Maternity Center is included.

Fee: $50.00 (includes mom and coach)

Attend one 3-hour class, Weeknight, 6:00 - 9:00 pm

Sibling Preparation: Big Brothers- and Sisters-to-Be Class

The "ins and outs" of being a big brother or sister are covered in this class for expectant siblings and their parents. Learn about Mom's hospital stay, what new babies are like and how things may change when a new baby arrives..

Fee: $20.00 per child/$5.00 each additional child (includes parent/guardian(s)

Attend one 45-minute class:
Saturday, 10:30 - 11:15 am (under 4), 11:30 - 12:15 am (over 4)

Infant Care Programs

Optimize Your Breastfeeding Experience

Board certified lactation consultants help mom prepare for breastfeeding with confidence. Topics include:

  • Preparation for breastfeeding
  • Evidence based information
  • Techniques & strategies for getting breastfeeding off to a good start
  • Managing common concerns of the first few weeks at home
  • Finding breastfeeding support & resources
  • Balancing work and breastfeeding

Fee: $50.00 (includes mom and coach)
Attend one 3-hour class, Wednesday, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. OR Saturday, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Infant Care and Safety Series

Build confidence around how to nurture your baby's development and ensure your newborn's safety.

Topics include:

  • Getting ready for baby
  • Newborn care
  • Baby's 1st year
  • Ways to keep your baby healthy
  • Common illnesses

* A separate CPR class is offered once per month on Saturday morning.

Fee: $60.00 (includes mom and coach)

Attend TWO 2-hour classes, 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Infant and Child CPR Class

This American Heart Association course is excellent training for any parent, grandparent, or childcare provider. This is an instructional class, but does not provide certifcation.

*Class space is limited and wait time is often several months.

Fee: $45.00 (per person)

Attend one 3-hour class, Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Prenatal Yoga - New!! Coming Soon!

Breathing & postures are designed to nurture the muscles that support your baby during pregnancy and labor. Many positions enhance flexibility of the pelvis and focus on opening and creating space for a healthy childbirth experience. Dates and location to be determined.

Independent Learning Modules

If you are on bedrest or prefer to learn on your own, education materials are available on loan. Fee includes a 2 week DVD loan and class manual to keep. Rentals require credit card for security.
