Lactation Consultants
Our lactation consultants are International board certified and available seven days a week with the exception of holidays. They will visit you at least once during your stay and are available to assist you with feedings as needed and answer your questions and concerns.
If you have difficulties with breastfeeding after you return home, lactation consultants are available for outpatient visits. You can set up an appointment for a visit by calling the Lactation Office at (585) 341-6808. A nominal fee is charged because most insurance companies do not cover the visit.
You may call or email hhlactation@urmc.rochester.edu with any questions you have before you deliver. Attending a prenatal breastfeeding class is strongly encouraged and you can sign up by calling Highland's Family Classes at (585) 473-2229 or email hhclasses@urmc.rochester.edu.
Breast Pump Rental Station
A breast pump rental station is located on site with Medela electric breast pumps and supplies. Pumps are available to rent 7 days a week. For more information on breast pump rental or breastfeeding supplies, please call the Lactation Center at (585) 341-0519.
