On Thursday, May 10, Highland Hospital will begin to offer prenatal yoga at the Center for Community Health at 46 Prince Street as part of its obstetrical (OB) education class offerings. Classes will be held at 5:30 p.m. every Thursday and 9:30 a.m. every Saturday. Single classes are $15, and 10-class passes are available for $100. Women may register by calling (585) 473-2229 or visiting www.HighlandChildbirthClasses.urmc.edu.

"This is a time in a woman's life when she can really embrace and take ownership of her health," said Michelle Friedrich, RN, CCE, OB Education Coordinator and prenatal yoga instructor. "Prenatal yoga classes will encourage breathing and postures designed to enhance flexibility of the pelvis and help women plan for childbirth with confidence."

Women should get permission from their doctors before attending the classes.
