Sveta Karelsky, M.D., Joins URMC Department of Otolaryngology, Highland Medical Staff

Dr. Sveta Karelsky
Sveta Karelsky, M.D., has joined the medical staff at Highland Hospital. She is an assistant professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine.
Dr. Karelsky, a native of Russia, has lived in the United States since childhood. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cell biology from the University of California, Berkeley. Her seminal research work on short interfering RNA was published in the journal, Nature. She subsequently completed medical school at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
Most recently, Dr. Karelsky completed her residency in the otolaryngology program at the University of Rochester Medical Center. During that time, she received the resident research award and completed projects relating to the quality of patient care between specialties.
Dr. Karelsky practices primarily at Highland Hospital and Sawgrass Surgery Center and provides a wide range of ear, nose and throat services to both children and adults.
