Mom Gives Birth in Car on I-490
Michelle Gibbs' baby could not wait to get to Highland Hospital - literally. Instead, Braeden Gibbs, an 8-pound baby boy, was born in the passenger seat of a Chevrolet Suburban heading down Interstate 490. Michelle’s father, Greg Nagel, was driving and on the phone with 911 when Michelle delivered her own baby.
Highland doctors and nurses were waiting for Mom and baby to ensure both were safe when they made it to the hospital minutes later.
Gibbs said everyone did a great job, but she remembers Chandra Graham, R.N., being extra helpful in the labor unit.
"Chandra was excellent," Gibbs said. "She was knowledgeable and informative and made me feel more comfortable."
