Highland Hospital will host the 17th Annual Breast Cancer Education Luncheon from noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 29 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Geralyn Lucas, author of Why I Wore Lipstick To My Mastectomy. Lucas graduated with honors from the Columbia University School of Journalism. After graduating and landing her dream job at 20/20, she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 27. Lucas was an editorial producer at 20/20 for seven years before becoming a director of public affairs at Lifetime Television. Lucas left Lifetime in January 2008 to work on a screenplay and continue her advocacy work.

Tickets for the event are $75, or $100, which includes admission to a pre-event VIP reception with Ms. Lucas. To purchase tickets or for information, call (585) 341-6490.

Proceeds from the luncheon benefit the Highland Breast Imaging Center. The Center’s education and outreach programs support early detection of breast cancer, and provide access to mammography and other diagnostic imaging services. Thousands of uninsured and underinsured women have received needed breast cancer screenings from the Breast Imaging Center.
