Highland Breast Imaging Center to Offer Free Mammograms for Mother’s Day

Guests at May 8 Screening Event Receive Free Clinical Breast Exams, Chair Massages, Refreshments, and Parking

April 12, 2010

In celebration of Mother’s Day, Highland Breast Imaging Center—in conjunction with the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester and the Health Partnership of Monroe County—will offer free mammograms on Saturday, May 8. To be eligible for the free mammograms, women must be at least 40 years of age and without health insurance, or with health insurance that does not cover mammograms.

Women with health insurance may also attend the screening event; their insurance will cover the exams according to their policies.

Mammograms will be available between 8 a.m. and noon at Highland Breast Imaging Center, located at 500 Red Creek Drive, Suite 130, in Rochester. Thanks to a generous donation from the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, a nurse practitioner will be available to perform clinical breast exams for women who have not had one during the past year.

In addition, massage therapists will be on hand to provide free 10-minute chair massages after the mammograms. Women who schedule their appointments with a friend or family member will receive a "buy one get one free" certificate for lunch at Lorraine’s Food Factory. Parking is free, and refreshments will be provided.

Women interested in obtaining a free mammogram should call Highland Breast Imaging Center at (585) 487-3300 to schedule an appointment in advance. Eligible women who cannot make it on the screening day can be scheduled for an alternate day.

Highland Breast Imaging Center is dedicated to helping women meet their healthcare needs. For more details regarding Highland Hospital’s screening day or the services offered, please contact Sue Swift, Coordinator, Patient and Community Relations, at (585) 487-3305.
