Highland Hosts Caring for Elders Conference April 18

By 2030, one in five people will be older than 65, making the elderly population the fastest growing segment of patients in hospitals. Health care professionals and paraprofessionals are invited to learn about the “Challenges and Changes in the 21st Century for Older Adults” at the 7th Annual Caring for Elders conference 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18 at the Burgundy Basin Inn in Pittsford.

The conference is open to nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, patient care technicians, nursing assistants, students and others interested in the health of elders. A variety of local experts and speakers will present on topics, including delirium prevention, hospital readmissions and their impact on the health care system, pain management and caring for aging adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
