Highland, BCCR Donate Funds for Mammography at Anthony Jordan Health Center

Rochester, N.Y., July 23, 2012 – Highland Hospital and the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester (BCCR) have partnered with the Anthony L. Jordan Health Center to offer women in the Rochester area greater access to breast cancer screenings.

On July 20, the Jordan Health Center launched a renovation project that will accommodate a new Urgent Care Center and mammography and X-ray services at its Holland Street facility.

Highland and the BCCR donated funds to buy mammography equipment for Jordan, and Highland also will provide staff for mammography and X-rays.

“The latest and best mammography equipment you can buy will be right here at Jordan,” said Director of Breast Imaging Avice O’Connell, M.D., F.A.C.R. “All patients have to do is walk in the door, and we’ll take care of them from there.”

Dr. Bridgette Wiefling, CEO, Jordan Health Center, and Rochester Mayor Tom Richards acknowledged and thanked Highland and the BCCR for improving the quality of care in the community. “We believe in helping patients and women live their best lives,” Dr. Wiefling said. “We have been able to remove barriers to care that could save lives.”

“Congratulations to Cindy Becker and Highland Hospital,” Mayor Richards said. “I’m very proud they’re going to be a part of this.”Jordan has served residents in northeast Rochester for more than 40 years. It already provides a variety of dental and medical services in one place, including primary care, OB/GYN care, pediatrics, optometry, behavioral health and pharmacy and lab services.

The Urgent Care Center and mammography services are expected to be up and running by December.
