Pain Management Center at Highland Hospital For Patients Suffering From Chronic Pain The Highland Pain Management Center was founded by Dr. Thanik in 1989 to meet the continuing and growing needs of patients suffering from chronic pain. Chronic pain is defined as pain that lasts longer than three months and does not respond to standard therapies such as surgery, medication and bed rest. Chronic pain impairs the quality of life for pain sufferers and their families. The Center was established with the vision to create an environment where chronic pain is viewed as a legitimate disease and where patients can receive treatments from knowledgeable professionals. The mission of the Center is to improve the lives of those in pain, through an integrative model of care. The Center’s multidisciplinary pain management program offers a comprehensive, integrated array of treatments to help those who suffer from chronic pain regain optimal health, function and quality of life. The comprehensive array of intervention and therapies offered by Highland Pain Management Center includes pharmacological management, non-narcotic treatment, lifestyle advices, and alternative medicine. The course of treatments is tailored to meet each individual patient’s needs.
