The photographs in this exhibit were taken over a two-week period during May 2007 in the small village of San Jose, by Jonathan Davis.
Jonathan is a registered nurse in the Strong Regional Burn and Trauma Unit, University of Rochester Medical Center. He went to San Jose as part of a team led by Dr. Doug Stockman of Highland Family Medicine's Residency Program in Global Health. The team was composed of 14 doctors, nurses, a dentist, a medical student, and a nursing student. While in San Jose, the team ran a medical clinic and a dental clinic. They also worked to improve the availability of drinkable water and helped to build ventilated cooking stoves in local homes ( to reduce chronic smoke inhalation and therefore various respiratory ailments).
Jonathan received his B.S. in nursing from the University of Rochester in 2007, and his B.S. and B.A. in biochemistry and psychology from SUNY Geneseo in 2005. He has lived in Rochester for the last 18 years.
All photos were taken using a 5.2 megapixil Canon A90.
