InfoPOEMs/InfoRetriever Relaunced as Essential Evidence Plus

Essential Evidence Plus, an enhanced version of the evidence-based medicine tool InfoPOEMS/InfoRetriever, is now available from Miner Library. Essential Evidence Plus will continue to feature Daily POEMs, the daily EBM alerting service, abstracts from the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, and numerous clinical calculators and practice guidelines. Three new resources will augment the existing product:

• EBM Guidelines - a concise collection of practice guidelines, evidence summaries, and images produced by the Finnish Medical Society.
• e-Essential Evidence - a general medical reference in a structured, evidence-based format. (Coming in the first quarter of 2008.)
• Derm Expert - a visual expert system for diagnosing skin conditions.

URMC faculty, residents, staff, and students can search Essential Evidence Plus on the web or download it to a PDA. If you already have InfoPOEMs/InfoRetriever on your PDA, you must uninstall it and download the new Essential Evidence Plus files. You may need to enter a user name and password if you sync your PDA at home or at another location not connected to the URMC network.
