Thanks to River Campus Libraries, the entire University of Rochester community now has access to Foundation Directory Online. Available from both on- and off-campus, the Directory is a top-tier research tool for all those seeking grants. The comprehensive database contains information on over 90,000 grant makers and 900,000 grants.
Exclusive, grant-maker portfolios organize current and archived news, requests for proposals, job postings, key staff affiliations, publications, and printable color charts illustrating grant distributions – all in one convenient location. The principal sources of information are voluntary reports made by many grant makers directly to the Foundation Center and information obtained from public information returns (990s) filed each year with the Internal Revenue Service by private foundations.
Foundation Directory Online offers a Search Tutorial on its site. Beginning with basic index, range, and keyword searches, the tutorial progresses to more complex searches involving multiple search fields and using Boolean operators and wildcard characters.
