“Images of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery,” a photographic exhibit by Eastman Dental Center resident, Stephen Cho, is on display through August, in the Edward G. Miner Library, University of Rochester Medical Center.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery is the surgical specialty of dentistry. Its scope includes the diagnosis, surgical and related treatment of diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and esthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the mouth, teeth, gums, jaws and face.
The exhibit features photographs taken in the operating room, and provides the viewing public with a glimpse into a world that few may ever know. The images capture the atmosphere, drama, concentration, and teamwork that is so common in the operating theater.
A graduate from the University of Toronto, Stephen is nearing the completion of his residency. He obtained a Canon A80 point-and-shoot digital camera originally for documenting surgical cases, but soon began using it to capture more creative images. He has upgraded to a Canon 30D digital SLR, and he now spends his time dreaming about lenses.
Miner Library is open Monday-Thursday, 7:30 am – 10 pm; Friday, 7:30 am – 8 pm; Saturday, 10 am – 5 pm; Sunday, noon – 10 pm. Call 585.275.3361 for holiday hours.
