Award winning photographer Tim Peters will exhibit photographs from his much-celebrated book, Toronto, at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Scheduled to run from September 6 through October 30, at the Edward G. Miner Library, this is Mr. Peters’ premiere exhibit in Upstate New York.
Tim Peters' stunning images have been published widely, and his work has earned awards from Communication Arts, Santa Fe Center for Visual Arts, and Studio Magazine. In addition, Mr. Peters’ photographs have been featured in such prestigious publications as American Photographer, The Boston Globe, Canadian Yachting, The Los Angeles Times, Maclean's, National Geographic Traveler, Newsweek, and Time, among many others. Toronto, his second monograph, is a collection of striking architectural juxtapositions, candid portraits, and colorful streetscapes.
Peters’ photographs exhibit exceptional clarity, fresh composition, and a keen sense of timing. “There is a precise, mathematical quality to his work,” says his sister, Cathy, a nurse practitioner and faculty member at the University of Rochester’s School of Nursing. All these elements are embraced with a zeal for natural light. Capturing location photographs that are enticing and illuminating often leaves the viewer with the sense that, as one described, "Makes you wish you were there!"
Tim Peters is a native of Western New York and grew up on a small island in the Niagara River. He explored his fascination with water’s “magical” qualities by canoeing, fishing, and sailing outings on Lake Ontario, the Finger Lakes, and the lakes of Algonquin Park. He studied Classical Greek and Roman Civilizations, and Political Science at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He currently lives in Maine with his wife and young family.
