The High Throughput Screening (HTS) Core has obtained state-of-the-art equipment for assay development and medium to high throughput Screening.
Envision High Throughput Plate Reader
The heart of a good screen is a good assay. The envision plate reader is a high sensitivity plate reader suitable for analysis of many types steady state high throughput assays that allows users a high level of flexibility in assay development. The reader is equipped with optics that allow for measurement of Fluorescence, Luminescence, Fluorescence Polarization (FP), Time Resolved Fluorescence (TRF), Absorbance, Alpha Screen, FRET and other assays in 96 or 384 well formats. The Laboratory has purchased the appropriate optics for many of these assays and the capabilities can be expanded with purchase of other optical modules depending on the needs of the investigator.
Robotic Liquid Handling System
The Janus dual arm robot is suitable for high throughput screening of large chemical libraries and cherry picking of hits from the library for titration and hit validation. The robot is equipped with an 8 position pipetting head for hit selection, a 96 tip head for screening and a 384 position pin tool for screening in 384 well plates. The robot is also equipped with a bar coded plate feeder and a gripper arm for moving plates on and off the deck.
Flexdrop Plate Filler
Used to routinely fill plates with reagent components required for screening assays. Can dispense protein reagents or cultured cells into 96 or 384 well plates. These would then be moved to the robotic liquid handling system for compound addition.
A Biotek plate washer is available for use.
