On behalf of the faculty, I would like to welcome you to the University of Rochester Medical Center and the Department of Imaging.

The Department of Imaging, which provides comprehensive imaging services under the banner of the University of Rochester Medical Center, employs more than 90 Board certified radiologists specializing in 11 clinical areas. We perform more than 900,000 imaging examinations per year throughout the University of Rochester Medical Center network.  Many of our faculty are nationally and internationally acknowledged as experts in the area of their specialty interest, with widely recognized contributions to clinical care, education of trainees, and research.

Our clinical services include all aspects of diagnostic radiology: abdominal imaging, breast imaging, cardiovascular, emergency medicine, musculoskeletal imaging, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, pediatric imaging, thoracic imaging, and vascular interventional radiology.

As part of the region's premier medical center, the Department of Imaging Sciences incorporates teaching as a critical component of its charter. Our graduating residents and fellows are provided specialized training and are highly sought after throughout the country. Our alumni can be found in prestigious academic radiology departments and private practices throughout the country. Admission to our residency program is highly competitive with a large number of applicants applying for a residency position each year. Specialty fellowship programs are offered in Abdominal Imaging, Neuroradiology, Pediatric Radiology, Musculoskeletal Radiology, MRI Imaging, Breast Imaging, Emergency Radiology, and Vascular Interventional Radiology.

The department's strengths begin with its faculty and staff. The entire faculty participates in educational activities while approximately 85% of our faculty is involved in clinical care and 15% of our faculty is involved in research. The training programs are designed to enable residents and fellows to acquire and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary for competence in the practice of radiology.  And, with the continued growth of our technologies and programs, numerous opportunities for faculty and trainees are available.
